You can convert YouTube to MP3 on Android with nothing but Chrome. No app to install, no account to create. Copy the video link, paste it into our free YouTube to MP3 converter, download the file, and it lands in your Downloads folder ready to play in any music app. Here is the full walkthrough.
Copy the YouTube link. Open the YouTube app, find your video, tap Share, then Copy link. This works for regular videos and Shorts alike.
Open our converter in Chrome. Go to cnvmp3.downloaderyt.com. Paste the link into the converter box and tap Convert. The conversion usually takes a few seconds.
Download the MP3. When the download button appears, tap it. Chrome shows a download notification at the bottom of the screen. If tapping does nothing, long-press the button and choose Download link.
Find and play it. Tap the finished download notification to open the file, or open the Files app and look in Downloads. Any music player on your phone will play it.
Organize it (optional). Move the file into a Music folder, rename it, and it will show up neatly in your player of choice.
MP3 is the most universal audio format on Android, so you have options. Your phone's built-in music player handles it, the Files app can play it directly, and free players like VLC or Musicolet add playlists and equalizers. Unlike iPhone, there is no walled garden here: the file is yours to move, rename, and play anywhere.
YouTube Shorts convert exactly like regular videos: share the Short, copy the link, and paste it in. Long podcasts and lectures work too, though very long videos can take a while to process. Playlists are the one exception: converters handle one video at a time, so open each video in the playlist and convert them individually. It takes a few extra taps, but each file comes out correctly labeled and ready to play.
Download will not start: check that Chrome has storage permission (Settings, Apps, Chrome, Permissions) and that you have free space.
Button does nothing: long-press it and choose Download link.
Download notification disappeared: check Chrome, menu, Downloads for the file status.
"Video unavailable" or conversion fails: the video may be private, deleted, age-restricted, or region-blocked. Confirm it plays in YouTube first.
Ad blocker or private DNS interfering: some blockers break converter pages. Whitelist our site or pause the blocker while converting.
Still stuck: our troubleshooting guide covers every common cause of failed conversions with fixes.

Frequently asked questions
Can I convert YouTube to MP3 on Android without an app?
Yes. You do not need to install anything. Open Chrome on your Android phone, go to our free YouTube to MP3 converter, paste the video link, convert, and download. The MP3 saves to your Downloads folder and plays in whatever music app you already use.
Where do downloaded MP3s go on Android?
Chrome saves downloads to the Downloads folder on your device storage. You will see a download notification when it finishes; tapping it opens the file. You can also find it later in the Files app under Downloads, and move it into a Music folder if you prefer.
Which app plays the MP3 on Android?
Any of them. The MP3 format is universal on Android, so your default music player, VLC, or even the Files app will play it. If you want playlists and nicer controls, a free player like VLC or Musicolet handles MP3s well.
The download will not start on my Android phone. What now?
First check Chrome has storage permission and that you have free space. Then try long-pressing the download button and choosing Download link. If an ad blocker or a private DNS setting is interfering, try disabling it just for our site. Our troubleshooting guide covers the remaining causes.
Can I convert YouTube Shorts to MP3 on Android?
Yes. In the YouTube app, tap Share on the Short and copy the link, then paste it into the converter like any other video. Shorts are just short videos, so the same conversion process applies, and the resulting MP3 is usually tiny since the clip is brief. It downloads to the same Downloads folder as everything else.
Is it legal to download YouTube audio on Android?
The device does not change the rules. Converting videos you own, public domain material, or Creative Commons content is generally fine on any phone. Downloading copyrighted music without permission can infringe copyright regardless of the device you use. Our legality guide explains the details with concrete examples.
